Re: Important Information for ALL Families
School Access Changes
The new Out of School Hours Program being conducted by Camp Australia commences next Monday. This is a great addition to the range of programs our school offers and I am sure that you all agree this will be a tremendous service to the families of our school community.
The service will provide a care facility in the morning (6:45am – 8:45am) and afternoons (3:00pm- 6:00pm) each day and a vacation care program during school holiday periods. It is highly affordable with fees being as low as $4.36 a session for eligible families.
The program has been implemented for a number of reasons, but primarily it was in response to the care issues families were facing at the beginning of the school day. Recognising that there were no care facilities available to students who arrive early in the morning, the school, in conjunction with the P&C and the Department of Education, arranged for a service to be delivered from the school.
Up until now the school has been lenient in allowing students onto the school site prior to supervision commencing at 8:30, but due to the concerns about the safety of students and the legal ramifications of a student being injured or harmed on site this will no longer be allowed.
It is also the case that we hold responsibility to ensure the safety of the workers and students in the OoSH program. This is a Workplace Health and Safety matter and was a requirement when agreeing to conduct an OoSH program on the school site.
As a result, decisions have been made in consultation and agreement with the school's P&C, which will see changed gating arrangements implemented soon after the service commences next week.
From Week 6 the gates will not be opened until 8:15am and they will be closed at 3:30pm. Any student entering or exiting the school outside these times will only be those that are registered to attend the OoSH program, and this will be by using the new walk through gate at the back of the hall near the pedestrian crossing. This gate is being installed over the next week. No other gates will be open.
To avoid your child being placed in an unsafe situation outside the school, I ask that you either register your child/ren to attend the OoSH program, or to make other care arrangements suitable to your family.
